Dr. Mary Downs

Dr. Mary Downs is originally from West Texas. After graduating from high school in her home town of Midland, she attended college at Rice University in Houston Texas. Next came medical school, internship and a neurology residency all at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas. She was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, and served as chief resident her final year of training.

She then moved on to private practice, with her first practice being in Springfield Missouri, where she resided from 1991 to 1996. While in Springfield she fulfilled the requirements to become board certified.

In 1996 she made the trip up the Alcan, accompanied by her two dogs and joined her brother Dr. Wayne Downs, to practice in Anchorage.

She still has dogs, currently 3 rescue Pomeranians, and enjoys various other hobbies such as reading, photography, horseback riding, biking and quilting.  One of her Poms, Foxy, has been certified as a Delta Therapy Dog.
